Our Review
Ever since the trend of using monopods has caught up with photographers, newer versions of monopods are flooding the market. Monopods are very useful in places where the use of tripod is not practical. An example for such a situation is when photographers have to shoot fast moving objects. Since adjusting the settings on tripods are time taking, they are not very suitable in such situations. Therefore, a monopod becomes a perfect photographing aid.
Gitzo GM2341 series 2 4 section aluminum monopod has now replaced the older GM2340 model. This model is very suitable for hiking expeditions where carrying large and heavy equipments can be cumbersome. The new model weighs only 1.3 pounds, which is less than a kilogram. The length of the monopod is 19.3 inches when folded, and so it fits easily into travel backpacks. It can be extended to a full length of 61.4 inches. Although small and light, this newer model of Gitzo can handle a load on 19.6 pounds. This is perfect for camera with long lens.
The G-lock system, which was present in the GM2340 model, has been completely redone in order to make the assembly more rigid and strong. The model is black in color, made out of durable aluminum material and is a reasonably priced photography stand.
